InnoVEX is just kick starting tomorrow and we know that everyone is so much excited to witness the innovative leaders and startups. The forums are expected to support startups find inspiration and valuable insights for growing their teams.

People to people interaction is one of the most amazing parts of big startup events like InnoVEX. No doubt InnoVEX forum is one of the most anticipated events during the startup show, this time you can expect to meet top-notch industry and academic experts from various startup incubators and accelerators across Taiwan. This year’s InnoVEX forum is based on the theme of “New Thinking New Engineering and New Future”.

The forum will cover a range of topics from Startup Ecosystem, AI, SportsTech, Biotech, Smart Machinery, Blockchain, Fintech and more.

Taiwan has created the biggest electronics contract manufacturing company and two of the largest pure-play chipmakers. Now, Taipei City is strategically developing a globally competitive startup ecosystem with a focus on AI, Biotechnology, and Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics.

“Since 2010, the Taipei City ecosystem has learned step by step to concentrate efforts and talent by focusing on clusters, specifically in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and precision robotics”, says Lewis Chen, who is now the Managing Director of Taiwan Technology Arena.

The first day of InnoVEX forum will be hosting a panel discussion under the theme “Rising Stars in the world of Innovation” through the partnership with various government bodies, accelerators, incubators, established corporates, and investors.

Here is the lineup of speakers who will be talking about the advancement of the startup ecosystem in Taiwan and other potential Asian markets.

Steve Hsu, General manager of TXA Private Board

Mr. Hsu found TXA Private Board which is the largest Advisory Board organization in Taiwan with records of over 260 board meetings in major cities in Asia. Mr. Hsu has nurtured over 600 startups with over 20 listed in Taiwan Stock Market.

Mr. Hsu has over 20 years of experience on the business consultant, corporate training, new business development, venture investment, and startup incubation.

JOHN SIE, Founder of Accupass

Accupass provides users the ability to sell tickets online for various activities, conferences, events, and more. Accupass provides users the ability to sell tickets online for various activities, conferences, events, and more. It provides cloud-based autonomous ticket selling services with the self-help registration procedure.

Accupass is considered as the biggest activity ticketing platform in Asia that assists over 10,000 activities every year. It accepts registrations and activity bookings from all over the world and provides complete online services from the activity release, payment, e-ticket issue, to the box office statistics.

 Light Lin, Founder of POSEIDON NETWORK

Light Lin is the Co-Founder of Poseidon Network, a decentralized content acceleration network based on Edge Computing, and Co-Founder of BiiLabs, a Taiwan-based startup focusing on distributed ledger technology (DLT) with IOTA, providing scalable Internet of Things (IoT) applications to build a trusted economy.

They are specialized in secured data transaction for distributed identification, smart city solutions (e.g. Air Quality Sensor Grid), and smart energy management. It partners with Taipei City Government, IOTA Foundation and other world-class organizations to enable industry innovation with real-world use cases.
Prior to BiiLabs, Light Lin co-founded Wretch.cc (2003-2007, acquired by Yahoo!), flyingV.cc (2012-2017, successful exit), and also managed 2 angel funds (37 portfolios with 40M USD AUM).

Light Lin received the 2014 “Award for Creativity & Research” from Pan Wen Yuan Foundation, a key indicative award in the technology field. He also sits on the “Youth Advisory Board” for Governmental Executive Yuan. He received the “100 MVP Managers Award” in 2014, and also “Young Achiever Award” from Monte Jade Science & Technology Association, a key organization that takes a pro-active role in enhancing Taiwan’s tech entrepreneurship.

In 2015, he was invited by Taipei City Government to serve as the Advisor for Taipei Municipal. He also actively participates in the legislative process toward a more open platform for equity crowdfunding. In addition, he advises the amendment in corporate laws that govern closely-held companies.

In 2016, he joined the Advisory Committee of National Project ASVDA (Asia Silicon Valley Development Agency). In 2017, he serves on the Advisory Committee of DIGI+ (a national digitalization project) by Executive Yuan.

Jeff Kuo, Co-founder/CEO of Gogolook

Jeff Kuo is the Co-founder & CEO of Gogolook and got his Ph.D. In Industrial Management from National Tsing Hua University and B.A. in Industrial Design from National Cheng Kung University.

Gogolook was founded by a group of “Mobile Internet “passionate young people of diversified backgrounds such as computer science, management, and design. The first team developed Android App – Whoscall had received public praise as Taiwan’s new model of innovation by Google Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt upon his visiting in Taiwan at the end of 2011.

Gogolook is an app development company based in Taipei Taiwan and a member of NAVER. Founded in 2012, and consisting of diverse talents from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, and Thailand, Gogolook’s founding mission and long term vision are to create a global contact network of trust through innovative and user-centric designs.

Whoscall, Gogolook’s most widely recognized app, provides instant caller identification through its global database of over 700 million numbers. Whoscall has accumulated over 20 million downloads worldwide and identifies billions of calls monthly. Since its founding in Taiwan, it has expanded its service regions into South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Brazil amongst others, creating in the process one of the world’s largest database of number information.

Apart from identifying unwanted calls, Whoscall also provides detailed information on stores and restaurants, successfully assisting millions of business owners to connect with its mobile users.  Through Whoscall, Gogolook aims to revolutionize the way we communicate. Jack Chao, Chairman of Silicon Valley Entrepreneur Association of Taiwan

Jack is extolled as the rising star of Taiwanese entrepreneurs. As a scholar, he is the youngest Ph.D. Candidate of the department of electrical engineering at National Taiwan University (NTU). His research results in wireless mobile networks are widely adopted in 4G international standard communication protocols.

As a teacher, he is the co-founder of Creativity and Entrepreneurship Program (CEP) in NTU. In addition, his lecture about mobile and Internet application development was one of the most popular courses in NTU. As a serial entrepreneur, he founded his first startup company when he was 19 years old. In 2013, he founded Zuvio, which is one of the market leaders of educational technology in both Taiwan and mainland China. Since 2017, Jack has been devoting himself to Fintech.

His company, BravoAI focuses on providing AI solutions for the insurance industry and stays ahead of the competition. More than that, Jack also dedicates his life to government policies and laws for startups. Currently, he is the chairman of the Association of Taiwanese Startup in Silicon Valley (SVEAT) and XFail Conference, which is one of the most important annual events for startups in Taiwan.
